The essentials

About this project

  1. Who it supports

Our adaptive archery program supports Ukrainian veterans and serving military personnel undergoing rehabilitation, including those recovering from limb loss, physical injuries, psychological trauma and the wider effects of war. Sessions are adapted to individual abilities, making participation accessible to people with different physical and rehabilitation needs.

  2. What it involves

The program runs at “Galychyna” State Rehabilitation Center and Truskavets Rehabilitation Center, where sessions are held weekly. Participants are introduced to adaptive archery techniques, equipment and progressive skill development. Activities are tailored to different physical abilities, including participants with amputations and mobility limitations. Beyond learning a sport, participants experience the satisfaction of developing new skills, achieving personal goals and connecting with others through shared activity.

  3. Who delivers it

The program is led by a professional Ukrainian Paralympic archery coach with specialist experience in adaptive sport. Working within rehabilitation settings, the coach provides tailored instruction, helping participants develop their skills, confidence and independence in a safe and supportive environment.

  4. Partners involved

The program is delivered in partnership with “Galychyna” State Rehabilitation Center and Truskavets Rehabilitation Center, bringing adaptive sport into the rehabilitation environment. Fierce Calm supports program delivery and access to specialist coaching, working alongside Ukrainian rehabilitation professionals to expand opportunities for physical activity, confidence-building and psychosocial recovery.

  5. What it aims to support

The program aims to improve concentration, coordination, confidence, emotional regulation and psychological wellbeing through focused physical activity. Archery encourages patience, goal-setting and personal achievement, helping participants rediscover their capabilities, build resilience and develop a renewed sense of independence and purpose.
