About this project
- 01
Who it supports
Our therapeutic gardening program supports Ukrainian veterans, serving military personnel and their families, including those recovering from physical injuries, psychological trauma and the wider effects of war. It offers an accessible, supportive environment for people at different stages of rehabilitation.
- 02
What it involves
The program currently operates through indoor microgreens cultivation at Fierce Calm's office within “Galychyna” State Rehabilitation Center. Participants engage in practical growing activities as part of a structured therapeutic approach. The next phase will establish an outdoor therapeutic garden at the rehabilitation centre, expanding opportunities for nature-based rehabilitation, shared activity and ongoing recovery.
- 03
Who delivers it
The program is delivered by Fierce Calm's specialist team of Ukrainian psychologists, trained in horticultural therapy. They combine psychological expertise with structured, nature-based therapeutic activities to support recovery and wellbeing.
- 04
Partners involved
Developed in collaboration with “Galychyna” State Rehabilitation Center and an initiative of the Office of the President of Ukraine to advance therapeutic gardening for veterans, serving military personnel and their families. The program brings together Ukrainian clinical expertise, institutional partnerships and innovative approaches to rehabilitation.
- 05
What it aims to support
The program aims to improve psychological wellbeing, emotional regulation, confidence and social connection through meaningful, hands-on activity. Gardening provides opportunities to develop routines, experience achievement and rediscover a sense of purpose and agency during rehabilitation.
