"I was 27 years old, working as a stock broker in the City. Work & career had become my whole life."

" I was being bullied by a person on my team, & without any outlet outside of work I found myself deeply unhappy in my job & my life"

I'm delighted to introduce Fierce Calm Ambassador @yogi_grogie who represents so much of what we stand for, not least because of her commitment to helping others, especially through her work with the fantastic @deadyogissociety charity fundraisers. This is her #yogasavedmylife story 📷

"I was crying a lot until one day my brother said – ‘You can’t live like this. Go for a run.’ I tried running but it wasn’t for me. A colleague had just come back from a yoga retreat, & I thought - 'I need some of what she’s got.' I went online, found a wellness centre in Spain,  turned around to my boss & told him I was heading off

.

It was the best decision I ever made. My first class was yoga Nidra - I fell into the deepest sleep I’d had in months. They had to wake me up after everyone had left the room. It was evidence of how stressed I’d been

.

All I knew was this thing called yoga made me feel good for the first time in a while

.

I came back to London & did online classes before work in the morn. A few months later, I moved jobs had two months of gardening leave, went to India on another retreat for 2 weeks. I fell hook line and sinker in love with yoga. It was my escape, my release, my time to get out of my head, let go of the anxiety of work

.

Eventually it made me realise that I was not on my journey. I did my teacher training , a time of introspection, & self-discovery where I had some big realisations –  I could not continue in my current career, I was not in the right relationship for me (we were engaged). It was pretty monumental, but it gave me the courage to implement the change I needed

.

My life is completely different to 18 months ago – friends, career, relationship. It’s been hard, I’ve lost people that I’d never have expected, but this practice, & the support of the yoga community has shown me again & again why this has is the right thing for me to do. It feels so right 📷 Sarah"
