Meet @jewelpeachyoga sharing her #yogasavedmylife story with us. These are her words 💚

"In a life smattered with abuse, pain, & depression, I fell in love with something that loved me even after knowing me at my darkest : the sacred practice of Yoga

At the time I began my yoga journey, I was a classically trained ballet dancer, surfer, snowboarder, mountain biker, hiker, terrible eater, & broken soul. I was (am) a pro freelance photojournalist & had been pursuing the high stress artistry of international photography for years. After being diagnosed with PTSD, I had trouble even grasping the minutiae of the day to day, from sleeping to eating, to being a mom to my beautiful son.

.

.

Fast forward 4 years & over a 1000 classroom hours of training & here we are

.

.

I poured myself into the trainings, mind, body, soul. I invested as much as I could into this practice, & in return it tore out the cobwebs in the recesses of my brain, sweeping my soul clean of all of the lies I believed, and by giving me the physical & mental tools I needed to let go of the old me: there old abuse, pain, & depression

.

.

After all this time, after all these years of practice & sweat, tears, toil, & breakthrough, I'm oriented towards one thing when I teach: & that's what's inside your skull. You are a human, being. I added that comma intentionally, because you are a human, existing, now.

It starts with the breathe, with being present, letting go, embracing the hands of pain as they push you through the gates of freedom 🙏

. .

I have found nothing but healing & growth through my experience with the practice of yoga & my journey through teaching, and my body has found nothing but strength through the constant daily discipline of hitting my mat

.

.

In this shared space with other humans, this messy world that can be crazy and mean at times. Are we capable of changing our relationships, and ourselves? Are we capable of true, radical, internal peace? YES. Totally. It's all about a mindset shift, a change in perspective towards love, grace, forgiveness, & understanding 💚"
