"I've battled testicular cancer. Twice. First in 2006, then again in 2018 when my yoga practice helped me keep my sanity having to fight all over again" .

"10 years ago, I was very sedentary, made little attempt to manage my health, & had just gotten out of a toxic relationship. I decided to try a Hot Vinyasa Yoga class at a small studio in Cambridge, MA, was immediately hooked
.
I had tried meditating for years, & I was drawn to matching breath to movement & raising my heart rate through a flow that made me sweat profusely. I began going 4-5 times a week, & in just over seven months, I lost 65 lbs! Yoga helped me transition into a healthy lifestyle more than any other form of exercise could, long before I embraced going to the gym & training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, both of which I've taken up the last few years
.
My practice was also deeply important as I battled through cancer a second time in 2018; my practice definitely helped me stay mindful & keep my sanity as I went through my second fight
.
I went through Teacher Training in 2014, first teaching Yoga Sculpt, then did the full 200-hour training the next summer
.
I've found my voice in guiding others through their practice, & love the expressions on their faces after an invigorating flow. I've realized my empathy & sharing my story of recovery are part of the gifts I was given to make the world a better place, & my yoga practice is vital to both inspiring yogis on their mats, as well becoming an exceptional Massage Therapist, as I'm constantly in Warrior 1, Crescent Lunge, & Horse when doing Swedish & deep tissue massage
.
I finally became a full-time yoga teacher & LMT this past year after doing the corporate admin thing for 12 years. I knew I never really belonged sitting behind a desk; I've never been happier with my career & job satisfaction, & I'm so grateful for finding my true calling through yoga, bodywork, & wellness
.
I suggest yoga to everyone, as it's such an amazing tool in helping you become a better whatever you are๐ Tristan"
