"Yoga quite literally saved my life, helping me thru the darkest of periods"

Meet Marlo @_marmo sharing her #yogasavedmylife story with us. These are her words ❤

.

.

"I discovered yoga while attending Santa Barbara City College. My semester long class there brought to life something in me I didn’t know existed. From that moment it was a relationship that was extremely fiery and intimate at times, and also very distant and cold for some periods of time. Stumbling back into a studio when I knew I needed to make a change for the better. Only losing yoga, when I was losing myself

.

.

I found myself Groupon hoping from studio to studio during most of this time (and I know studios don’t always LOVE the Groupon hoppers) but it was how I found my new home at @divinitree (sb) From the moment the studio opened, I was hooked

.

.

Once I found my second home, no matter what was going on each day, yoga was always my top priority. I revolved my schedule, classes, homework, eating patterns around yoga. Only because I knew my mind and soul needed it

.

.

One of my favorite classes was with @chylawalshyoga.

& I still don’t know if she fully understands how much she helped me thru one of the darkest times of my life

.

.

It is a time I will never forget ~ taking class, and just letting the tears flow. It was the only space I felt comfortable letting my emotions go, and flow freely. Something about the many rawrssss, slow methodical body movements, music and the energy Chyla brought to the room that made me feel so safe, loved and supported

.

.

Our yoga studio was my safe space, to be completely me. To cherish moments of life and death, and to surround myself with like minded humans I could call my tribe

.

.

This is what yoga means to me. It doesn’t mean getting “toned,” or “burning calories,” or getting “ultra flexi,” it means HOME. A space to feel safe. A space to connect. A space to ground. A space to let go of fears, anxieties, and work thru depression. A space to fall in love with my flaws, and work thru my demons. A space to grieve, love, & hug

.

.

To all those who taught me, grew with me, guided me on this path, to my teachers (tagged), Thank You! I owe you my life ❤🙏"
