"In January 2018, I started exploring yoga studios, and in February, a sober friend suggested we try the intro to Ashtanga class @ashtangacbus"

Meet @yogiraptor sharing her Ashtanga #yogasavedmylife story in the penultimate day of the @trinifoundation takeover, highlighting their inspirational work bringing yoga & tuition scholarships to those fighting addiction. These are her words 💚

.

. "I hadn’t found my yoga home yet. I didn’t know what Ashtanga was about, but I was willing to try it. I came and fell in love. I immediately felt the energy in the room, & I first met Cara in the class and then @taylorhuntyoga in the Mysore room

.

I knew it was where I was supposed to be. Ashtanga gave my practice direction, and it made me feel more connected to my Higher Power than anything else I had experienced. Listening to the chants during led practice would almost make me cry

.

Ashtanga has been my life force through this second year. Taylor’s story inspired me so much, & all of the teachers at AYC showed me how truly caring & committed they are. I started teaching yoga to women in a sober house as 12th step work because I believed in the power of yoga to transform my sobriety and I wanted to give that to

others

.

I’ve told many of my sobriety friends about AYC and the Trini Foundation, and I know that without finding this place, I would not be as spiritually grounded as I am today. In October, I went to the Ashtanga and Addiction Forum, and I met so many other sober yogis and learned so much

. I’m forever grateful my Higher Power led me to this place, and I know each time I walk in the shala that I am home. I’m so grateful my kids will grow up knowing me as a yoga mom and not a drinking mom 🙏 Mindy ❤️❤️❤️"

.

The Trini Foundation are planning to double the number of yoga tuition scholarships they offer in 2019! Please check them out (link in bio 👆) if you'd like to help them bring the life saving practice of yoga to more individuals in recovery from addiction. Together can help SAVE LIVES!! 🙏🏽 Lee
