" Postpartum issues including back pain, prolapse, incontinence, & post natal depression are extremely common. If you can take one thing away from my story & my book Strength Through Yoga, it is this. You are not alone

I'm Hannah @yoga_girl_london. I was drawn to yoga in 2014 while pregnant with my son. At the time, I had a stressful job in finance with long hours. I had always loved working out in the gym & always assumed yoga wasn’t for me. I could barely touch my toes, I wasn’t the spiritual ‘type’ & I was convinced it wouldn’t give me a ‘real’ workout. I was wrong!

.

After my first class, what brought me back to my yoga mat was the strength I found inside (as well as out!). The mindfulness yoga teaches helped me shift my outlook on life and it helped me through what lay ahead.

.

My daughter was born in 2017. Her birth & start to life were very traumatic. I don’t think you can ever be prepared for having a child in intensive care, & I was hit with PND & PTSD. The breathing techniques, meditation & physical practice of yoga gave me an outlet to cope & feel strong again in both my mind & body. Today my daughter is a beautiful soldier who loves nothing better than to practice with me.

.

Yoga has given me the tools I need to thrive & feel strong in everyday life. The way yoga has supported me in my journey of being a mother encouraged me to share what I’ve learnt, & helping women in pregnancy & postpartum has become my vocation. Its why I decided to write @strengththroughyoga alongside @finolaphysio, the best physiotherapist have ever seen

.

The book is for all mothers. It includes six weeks of physiotherapy based exercises followed by ten weeks of yoga inspired circuits designed to increase full body strength and flexibility in just 25-30 minutes, 3 times a week. Additionally we have included information and advice on the core and other essential muscles, mindfulness and mediation techniques, and common postpartum issues – shedding some light on issues which can be hard to talk about and giving you information on what you can do to help.

Reach out. Share. Seek profession help, advice. You are not alone"

Love & Light
