"I was the quintessential late 30’s SuperMum. Corporate America Vice President, 2 young daughters... married & trying to protect those two young daughters from, & back then, a manic depressive alcoholic husband
.
"My body protested - I developed multiple allergies, bouts of anxiety & depression; chronic acid reflux, delayed gastric emptying, IBS, insomnia, diffuse muscle spasms & all-over pain. I kept going, ignoring the body’s wisdom, began taking prescription medication, pain meds, opiate pain meds, band aids over gaping wounds
.
Botched trigger point injections (aimed at relieving the muscle spasms) finally landed me in hospital for 5 days, with double lung puncture
.
I HAD to STOP
. ‘Death has to be better than this’ I thought
.
2 weeks later I signed up for Yoga teacher training.....
I never intended to teach. 5th class in, something SHIFTED. My thoughts changed to ‘how can I NOT teach???’!! I stopped all 12 Rx meds, took 2 years to complete a mere 12 week 200 hour YTT training, quit my job & worked through an acrimonious divorce
.
To feed my soul, I went to India for RYT500 hour teacher training, took & then taught ecstatic dance programs, & Thai Yoga Massage, learned Shamanism & Reiki. I taught yoga at YMCA’s & High Schools & began Teaching teachers too
.
At 48, I began saying ‘Yes’ to the opportunities the Universe presents
.
Yoga, as a lifestyle & philosophy of LIVING, beyond the asanas, continues to inform, nourish & expand my life. It didn’t just change my life, it totally TRANSFORMED it & actually GAVE me a LIFE to live, vs an existence
.
2019 saw lumpectomy, double mastectomy, immediate implant reconstruction, raging breast implant illness, flat denial Explant, Explant revision
.
Only the trainings and modalities of yoga and meditation saw me through that 💚 To an ever freer and joyous new Phoenix from THOSE ashes! Stay well. Stay strong. Stay positive. Stay Present. 🙏🏼💜
