Meet @terri_heart sharing her #yogasavedmylife story with us. These are her words 💚

"My mother was diagnosed with a glyoplastoma grade V, nine months to live. She had surgery, re-growth & surgery again. I visited her daily, and when she could leave the hospital she stayed with me. Every day I encouraged her that all was going to be fine. Every day I played charades for her as she didn’t want to know the truth. Every day I cried my eyes out, wiped my tears put on a happy smile to face her. She had asked me to only give her positive news and hope. I was torn inside, watching her fade, every day a little more

Then, I got pregnant & the day my mother died, my son kicked for the first time. I kept my grief at bay in order to protect the unborn child. He was all that mattered now, keeping the unborn child in my womb alive & happy. My mother’s illness lasted nine months until she died. My pregnacy lasted nine months until my son was born. Life & death so close together & his first kick the moment she passed was a lot for me to take in

.

I had post-natal depression, missed my mother & felt guilty. I separated from my husband, who took my son with him & the lights went out for me; completely. It felt like I was chewed up by a giant monster & spit out. no words could describe the feeling. Mental pain had manifested on a physical plane and made me scream at night. As if possessed I scratched the walls with my fingernails, distraught

.

I found a Sivananda Yoga book on the tip at the local recycling centre

.

From here on, I practiced yoga & candle gazing meditation for 4 hours a day. Two teacher trainings later (Vinyasa, Quantum Yoga and Ashtanga) I had moved to India were I studied the ancient art of vedic chanting with T.K.V. Desikachar & Menaka Desikachar for 3 years

.
