"I have ADHD, depression & anxiety"

Meet @the.rooted.yogi ❤These are her words🙏

.

.

"My yoga journey started in June 2012 after my 2nd ACL//Meniscus surgery. In seeking a way to rehabilitate my knee I discovered a new found passion for movement & breath. I now teach yoga & wish to share that with everybody, show that yoga is for every body

.

.

Yoga created a new me. To the old me, the younger me, I wish to say:

I wish I had loved you more. I wish I hadn’t had habits that are so self destructive. I wish I had looked at my body through eyes of compassion & grace. I wish I had embraced my flaws & short comings. I wish I hadn’t compared myself to others so much. But now, it’s ok. I know I went through that journey because God had a plan to give me the gift of being mama to 3 daughters. A responsibility greater than any responsibility I have ever had

.

.

As I share this my eyes well up with tears thinking of times I actually wanted to end my life. I think of the time I was 17 and was rushed to the hospital with a BA level of .24. I almost died. I think of the times when I have been so depressed I thought I would never surface. As hard as those times were, I experienced everything to be able to empathize with others. I’m able to say, “I chose to rise, you can too.” I have to love who I am because if I don’t how am I ever going to encourage my daughters, my business partners and clients with @aloetteofc3 and my yoga students to do the same

.

.

It’s take me a long time to get to this point younger self, but I’m here now. And I’m not going anywhere. I love you

.

.

I have ADHD, depression & anxiety. However I know my body & my practice empowers me towards acceptance of these “labels” which do NOT define me. I think the more we talk about & bring awareness to mental health as a very REAL thing, it breaks the stigma that surrounds it. Sharing our stories in posts like this is so important! If you just look at my pic & do not read what I post, you might think, “oh just another yoga chick posing for a pic.” Eff the scrolling. Its #mentalhealthawareness week. Let’s bring awareness & action to things that really make a difference. Namaste KJ 🙏
