"I discovered yoga when I was 14 years old. I come from a small town in Iceland, a yoga teacher had just moved into town and was offering a workshop for teenage girls"
"I had always struggled with finding a sport suitable for me because I suffered from joint pain from the time I started walking, and the options were limited in my town
.
After that first yoga workshop, I knew I had found something for me. A few months later I experienced my first heartbreak in my first serious relationship. I was diagnosed with anxiety and depression, and later on fibromyalgia, and I truly believe it wouldโve been so much worse if it hadnโt been for yoga
.
But I was still quite inconsistent in my practice. My depression was up and down for the next 7-8 years and I developed an eating disorder on top of it
.
Two years ago, I had way too much free time, so I decided to take advantage of it and go do 200 hr teacher training in India. I went to India with the thought of becoming an asana teacher, but the month there changed me more than I ever couldโve imagined
.
Today, yoga is consistently a big part of my lifestyle - and I can honestly say that Iโve never felt better. Iโve learned to listen to my body, and actually hear what it needs. Iโve found love and appreciation for myself and Iโm excited to take on anything life throws my way ๐"
