"About 6 years ago I fell off a cliff & broke my back. Due to that I am now a full-time wheelchair user and I have a complete t3 spinal cord injury"
.
"I had been doing Yoga (Bikram) for a while before my accident when I lived I London, and after my accident I started doing adapted yoga on my own with some resources from the internet & also from Matthew Sanford @mindbodysolutions , he also has a spinal cord injury and is an amazing teacher, he teaches me how to work with folks with disabilities modifying asanas according to their body and needs
.
I work for a charity organisation where we organise workshops, training, and camps for newly injury people and as a mentor and role model, I usually help newly injury folks to look beyond their current situation and to see that life still beautiful
.
I believe that mindfulness combined with adaptive/accessible yoga can be a great tool for newly injured folks, wheelchair users and folks with a physical and mobility impairment
.
Yoga helps me to deal with chronic neuropathic pain, with spasticity, stiffness, stress, anxiety and the list goes on and on
.
Yoga has helped me to fall in love with my broken body & to accept it as it is
.
It allowed me to be who I am and to accept what is ๐
.
I am currently finishing a 200YTT and I want to help people feel as good as I do when I practice
.
Itโs going to be beautiful ๐
Peace, love, empathy to you all,
Rodrigo Souzaโ
