I had been in training my whole life to handle a crisis, to stay cool and focused, but nothing prepared me for the harrowing ride of a breast cancer diagnosis, bilateral mastectomy and reconstruction surgeries at age 49

It was during the powerful 2018 nor’easter when I got the call. It was war. No stone was left unturned, but as the fear kicked in my mind became my fiercest adversary threatening darkness and death with every thought
The light came back as I meditated on sounds, symbols, numbers and the rhythm of my own breath
